Calling All Cake Bakers and Lovers
PITTSBORO– This year marks the 29th year of the Chatham County Council on Aging’s Cake Bake Off! The Council invites you to come out on Sunday, Feb. 12th, from 3-5pm to the East Chatham Senior Center in Pittsboro (365 Highway 87 N) and enjoy the winning cakes, while supporting programs and services for older adults. For just $5 for adults and $3 for children, you can sample the winners along with milk or coffee. After the sampling, the remaining cakes will be auctioned off which means you can take one home with you just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Are you a baker? Register now! We are going to “mix” it up this year and offer 4 categories for our Chatham bakers. Choose from chocolate, cheesecake, fruit or veggie-based cakes for your entries and tasting! Cakes must be scratch made. Judging is based on originality, taste, texture, and overall appearance. After the judging, the public is invited to taste the winners and bid on others. Bakers who want to enter their favorite delicious cake should do so no later than Monday, Feb. 6th, by 5 pm. Drop off times will be the Friday and Saturday before the event. To enter your cake, contact Emily Foushee at [email protected] or Melanie Girard at 919-542-4512.
Prizes will be awarded. Don’t miss this tasty event! If you are a local business and want to sponsor this event, please call Melanie Girard 919-542-4512.
The Council will also be drawing the winner for its canoe raffle during the event. Tickets are still for sale for $5 each and are sold at each senior center location. All proceeds from the event and the raffle go to programs and services for Chatham seniors.
